I accept payment by check, cash, or any major credit card. Payment is due prior to, or at the time of, service. If you have a credit card on file, it will be charged within 48 hours of your appointment.

Regarding Insurance: Though I am not an in-network provider for any insurance plans, I can provide a superbill that you can submit to your health insurance company. If your insurance plan provides out-of-network benefits, you may be reimbursed for 20-80% of your session fees. Before we meet, you should contact your insurance carrier to verify: (1) whether you have mental health benefits, (2) the number of sessions covered, (3) the rate of reimbursement, and (4) your deductible. If you have questions about this, please feel free to call me. I am happy to assist; I know this can be hard to navigate.

Sliding Scale: I have a limited number of sliding-scale slots for individuals with particularly low income (documentation may be required, but please do inquire).

Technology + Therapy

Recent reviews and meta-analyses have found that, for most mental health concerns, teletherapy (i.e., remote, video-based therapy sessions) are just as beneficial as traditional in-office psychotherapy (Lamb et al., 2018; Norwood et al., 2018; Osenbach et al., 2013; Shigekawa et al., 2018).

I offer teletherapy sessions via the secure, HIPAA-compliant, SimplePractice platform. Teletherapy rates are the same as those listed above. Please contact me to inquire as to whether this might be a good option for you.

In addition to my experience with teletherapy, I have co-developed and implemented mobile applications (i.e., iPhone/Android apps) designed to accentuate/facilitate your work with a therapist. If you’re interested in integrating “tech” into your treatment plan, please let me know!

A Note on How I Work

Unlike many psychotherapists, I offer the option of working on a “flexible contract” basis. This does not mean that you are in any way obligated to attend some number of sessions; you can quit therapy at any time. Rather, this serves as my promise to you that I will not encourage you to stay in therapy indefinitely. The goal of therapy is to no longer need therapy.

This approach is preferred by some clients, not only because it’s evidence-based, but because of the considerable investment it takes to improve one’s mental health and wellbeing. Psychotherapy can get very expensive, very quickly. So, if you’re looking for a time-limited, solutions-focused approach, I am happy to provide that. I encourage you to consider psychotherapy as a short-term investment that will result in long-term benefits. [That said, it’s also important to acknowledge that some people need or desire ongoing, long-term support, and I am also able to provide those services, as needed.]

This “flexible contract” process generally entails:

1.     You come in for a 50- or 80-minute intake/assessment. Please let me know your preference for session length.

2.     From there, I formulate a general conceptualization of what’s going on with you, and I draft a treatment plan.

3.     In our next couple of sessions (probably 50-min each), I will learn more about you, and we’ll collaborate regarding your treatment goals and our plan of action.

4.     By the 3rd to 4th session, we’ll come to a mutual goal + plan. The plan will be flexibly time-limited. That is, we will aim for a certain number of weeks (e.g., 12 to 16 weeks), and identify objective benchmarks that you want to achieve in the given time period. [Of course, you are free to stop whenever you’d like.]

5.     When we come to the end of the pre-determined time period, we’ll reevaluate and assess your progress.

6.     From there, we can together determine if it’s smart to:
(a) conclude treatment,
(b) extend the current plan because we both think you can gain even more ground via what we’ve been doing, or
(c) shift gears and start tackling another problem area.

Everyone I see is treated as a unique individual.
Together, we’ll determine the path that’s best for you.
